The European Commission has launched a public consultation as part of a review of four EU regulations targeting improved energy performance and environmental standards for refrigerators used in households and commercial settings.
The review aims to broaden current requirements beyond energy efficiency and consumption, adding criteria such as reparability and recyclability.
The consultation is structured into two separate surveys—one focused on household refrigeration appliances and the other on commercial models used in settings like supermarkets.
According to the Commission, the process is intended to ensure broad stakeholder input through a transparent and inclusive approach.
The consultation period runs from 4 December 2025 to 26 February 2026.
