Eurovent Certification Celebrates 30 Years of Change

Eurovent Certification celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of Eurovent Certified Performance. Since launching its first two certification programs in 1994, the HVAC and refrigeration industry has seen significant transformations. The Eurovent Certified Performance program for Heat Exchangers, one of the oldest programs, exemplifies these changes.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, unreliable technical specifications were a major challenge for the European HVAC and refrigeration industry. Performance data often exceeded actual cooling performance by 20% to 30%, leading to distrust among producers and misleading system designers and end users.

The introduction of Eurovent product certification gradually gained positive recognition. Initially, only a few manufacturers certified their laminated heat exchangers for certain product series. By the late 1990s, the "certify all" approach required all series of HFC heat exchangers to be certified, ensuring consistent performance standards.

Over the past 30 years, Eurovent product certification has significantly enhanced product quality, ensured performance reliability, and promoted a consistent marketplace for manufacturers and customers.

Looking ahead, energy savings and operational cost reduction will continue to drive the industry. Lifecycle cost assessments will become crucial for understanding system expenses, and the use of natural refrigerants like hydrocarbons, CO2, and ammonia will increase, necessitating new certification focuses.

Eurovent Certification's 30-year journey has significantly shaped the HVAC and refrigeration industry, fostering trust and reliability through rigorous certification standards. As the industry evolves, Eurovent Certification will continue to play a crucial role in advancing technology and promoting sustainable practices.
