FREOR Continuous Cooling system

FREOR solution for commercial refrigeration equipment – Continuous Cooling system. The system features an innovative algorithm for temperature control in commercial refrigeration equipment that helps achieve high energy efficiency.

FREOR constantly looks for ways to improve on traditional approaches and make refrigeration equipment more energy efficient. The standard compressor works in cycles: it is switched off at the lowest allowable temperature until the temperature rises to the high set point. Then the highest set point is reached, and the compressor switches on. That type of control system results in large temperature fluctuations involving significant energy losses from the working of the motor.

Continuous Cooling control system replaces the traditional on-and-off compressor with an inverter compressor and an advanced controller. Refrigeration efficiency can  then  be  enhanced  by   adjusting  the  speed   of   the  compressor  based  on  the temperature inside the equipment. The temperature in the refrigerator is thus kept steady by regulating the compressor’s speed. Evaporation takes place continuously, only the capacity varies.

But it is not the compressor alone that makes this system super-efficient. The key is the efficiency of all the components and how they interact. An advanced algorithm in the controller defines compressor parameters and operating modes for the inverted compressor and other components. That allows the controller to optimise temperature control, minimising temperature fluctuations.

Continuous Cooling control system is available for all refrigeration equipment from FREOR, whether Plug & Play or on any type of Hydroloop systems that use natural propane (R290) gas as a refrigerant.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY RESULTS FROM THE FREOR LABORATORY

Use of Continuous Cooling system on commercial refrigeration equipment was tested in FREOR’s laboratory, which complies with the worldwide standard for refrigerated display cabinets – ISO 23953. The results shown temperature variations of no more than 0.5 °C in the equipment, meaning extremely high energy efficiency.

FREOR’s team tested the system on refrigeration equipment working in various temperature ranges as well as equipment without doors and equipment with glass doors. The tests at 25° C ambient temperature and 60% humidity showed energy savings of approximately 50%. The results might vary under different environmental conditions.
