Güntner Highlights Natural Refrigerants and Water Savings in 2024 Report

Güntner has announced its featured role in the newly published 2024 A-HEAT Sustainability Report, detailing company-wide progress toward its 2030 environmental targets. The report outlines initiatives in natural refrigerant integration, water and energy efficiency, and circular economy developments.

According to the report, Güntner has nearly completed the transition of its product portfolio to natural refrigerants such as CO₂ and ammonia. A CO₂-compatible version of the GADV product family is scheduled for release in 2025. These developments support the company’s goal of achieving full portfolio readiness for natural refrigerants by 2030.

Güntner reported a nearly 20% reduction in freshwater extraction since 2021 and aims for a 30% improvement in water-use efficiency by 2030. The company continues to invest in water-saving technologies at its global production sites.

The 2024 report also introduced the Impact° label, created to help customers identify products with sustainable features, including energy efficiency and natural refrigerant compatibility. In September 2024, Güntner hosted its first Impact Summit in Budapest, gathering nearly 190 customers from 36 countries to explore sustainable refrigeration solutions.

As part of its circular economy efforts, Güntner is working with Circular Republic to develop what it states is the first product in the industry manufactured under circular economy principles, involving reused materials and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

“Over the past few years, the way we talk about sustainability has changed,” said Christian Weiser, CEO of Güntner. “For us, it has never been about doing more, it has been about doing what matters, and that means focusing on impact.”
