GEA installs heat pump for Türk Tuborg brewery in Türkiye

Türk Tuborg has partnered with GEA to implement an industrial heat pump at its brewery in İzmir, Türkiye. The system captures waste heat from existing cooling systems and converts it into process heat for the wort production line.

The installation supports Türk Tuborg’s sustainability projects and decarbonization efforts in the region. The heat pump is designed to recover waste heat from the existing cooling infrastructure and upgrade it into usable process heat for brewery operations.

According to the release, the project addresses dependence on fossil fuels for heating, recovery and reuse of low-grade process heat, and overall energy efficiency. In early operation, the system achieved a 7.4 percent reduction in CO2 emissions, while overall energy efficiency remained stable.

The GEA heat pump operates in full integration with the brewery’s existing cooling infrastructure. Advanced control and monitoring capabilities are used to support stable, reliable and data-driven operation.

The release states that the technology supports Türkiye’s net-zero target for 2053 and complies with the new climate law, which mandates emissions reporting and reduction measures.
