Green Point UK Expands Support for Marine Sector with Flynn Refrigeration Initiative

Green Point UK, BITZER UK's compressor remanufacturing and services arm, has launched a cooperation initiative with leading marine specialist Flynn Refrigeration to expand operations in the shipping sector.

Flynn Refrigeration has more than 35 years’ experience in the industry and supports a wide range of clients, including ship owners, fleet managers and marine suppliers.

The initiative is part of Green Point's strategic expansion in transport refrigeration, which includes ships, busses and trains, announced last year. It includes the supply of replacement BITZER compressors, high quality remanufacturing and service back-up for Flynn Refrigeration customers in the UK and overseas.

Will Pribyl, General Manager of Green Point UK, said: "Flynn operates a network of supply and support services for customers both in the UK and around the world. Green Point's international network provides an excellent fit for their operations, as it enables the company to quickly reach wherever its customers are in port."

He added: "Onboard refrigeration systems face some unique operating conditions due to the challenging nature of the marine environment. When a marine refrigeration system goes down it is almost always an emergency. Ensuring rapid response to breakdowns is vital to protect the wellbeing of the crew and maintain critical cooling for perishable cargo."

Josh Flynn, Operations Manager of Flynn Refrigeration, said: "BITZER compressors are widely used in the marine industry due to their excellent design and proven reliability. When something does go wrong, however, it is critical to get customers up-and-running as soon as possible. Green Point is able to draw on the combined resources of its global network to source compressors, including less-commonly-available models, which is simply not possible for a single-location operator active in only one territory. The Green Point network gives proximity to vessels wherever they are, enabling us to deliver a proactive response."
