Haier opens new air conditioner plant in Thailand with 6 million unit capacity

Haier has inaugurated a new air conditioner manufacturing plant in Chon Buri, Thailand, with a total investment of 10 billion baht (approx. USD 270 million). The facility, located in the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3, is expected to reach full production capacity of 6 million units per year by 2027, with most output destined for export markets.

The 324,000-square-metre plant will be opened in three phases. The first phase begins operations in September 2025 with a capacity of 3 million units per year. Production is set to increase to 3.5 million units in 2026 and reach 6 million units annually in 2027.

This is Haier’s second manufacturing facility in Thailand. The company's plant in Kabin Buri district, Prachin Buri province, produces refrigerators and air conditioners.

Haier stated the new facility will support both domestic and international demand. Target export markets include the European Union, North America, and the Middle East. Once full production is achieved, the majority of the units will be exported.

According to the company, the project aligns with Thailand’s S-Curve strategy and Thailand 4.0 policy. The investment also marks a milestone in Thai-Chinese cooperation as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Zhou Yunjie, chairman of the Board of Haier Group, said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in the Thai economy and its goal to establish Thailand as a strategic manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia. He added that the plant will create 3,000 local jobs and support domestic economic development.
