Heat Pump Association Releases Annual Service Checklists for Hydronic Heat Pumps

The Heat Pump Association (HPA) has introduced new Annual Service Checklists for air, ground, and water-to-water heat pumps. Developed by the HPA’s Technical Working Group, these checklists outline the minimum recommended service checks, providing essential guidance for professionals in the heat pump sector.

The checklists serve as a resource for situations where manufacturer-specific service guidelines are unavailable. While not intended to replace original manufacturer instructions, the HPA checklists offer a reliable reference for maintaining the performance and longevity of hydronic heat pump systems. By detailing fundamental service practices, the initiative aims to promote consistency and reliability across the sector.

Tony Lathey, Chair of the HPA Technical Working Group, emphasized the importance of this new resource:
“The Heat Pump Association is committed to improving standards and providing clear, practical guidance to the sector. These annual service checklists are the result of collaborative efforts from leading industry experts. They set a baseline for best practices, supporting installers in servicing and maintaining hydronic heat pumps effectively, in the absence of manufacturer-specific guidance.”

This initiative aligns with the HPA’s broader mission to support the sector’s growth as demand for low-carbon heating solutions continues to rise. With heat pumps playing a key role in achieving net-zero targets, regular maintenance is essential to ensure their efficiency, performance, and long-term reliability.

The checklists are available on the HPA’s website under the technical resources section.
