IIR Releases 2024 Activity Report Highlighting Strategic Shift

The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) has published its 2024 activity report, outlining key achievements and setting the stage for a new strategic direction through 2028. The report details how the IIR is strengthening its role in promoting sustainable refrigeration and connecting science, policy, and industry.

Focus on Sustainable Development and Global Engagement

According to the IIR, 2024 marked a year of transformation with the launch of a new long-term strategy aimed at tackling evolving global challenges. Over 400 scientists and experts contributed to the Institute’s initiatives, underscoring its evidence-based approach to driving innovation in refrigeration technologies.

The IIR played an active role in major international forums, including COP29 on Climate Change and the 36th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol. These engagements reinforced the Institute’s commitment to ensuring that scientific knowledge informs global environmental policies.

Collaboration and Regional Impact

Through targeted pilot R&D projects, the IIR supported countries in improving refrigeration access and reducing environmental impacts. These initiatives were designed to adapt to regional needs and contribute to a just and inclusive transition toward sustainable cooling solutions.

“We are committed to inclusivity, ensuring no one is left behind in our journey to sustainable refrigeration for all,” said Yosr Allouche, IIR Director General.

The full report is now available for stakeholders seeking insight into the IIR’s current efforts and future priorities.
