IOR Expands Skills and STEM Outreach for RACHP Careers

The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) is expanding its education and outreach work to encourage new talent into the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry. The activity forms part of the IOR’s strategic focus on skills, supporting both the pipeline of new entrants and the development of the existing workforce.

In recent years, the IOR has developed a comprehensive STEM Toolkit and the Fantastic Fridges website, which provides accessible information on the science of cooling and the range of careers available in the sector. These resources support IOR members involved in STEM engagement in schools, colleges and other education settings.

Other IOR activities include the creation of the Industry Skills Alliance, bringing together employers, educators and government stakeholders. The institute has also appointed a dedicated education outreach specialist within its team.

The IOR is developing a team of regional Refrigeration STEM Ambassadors to visit schools and share information about RACHP careers. The next IOR STEM event is scheduled for 21 May.
