Johnson Controls Won a Mega HVAC-CHP Project for Spinning Mills in Bangladesh

YORK owned by Johnson Controls, has been at the forefront of progress and development in absorption technology serving global markets since 1960. With more than 80 patents recognizing the innovative engineering, YORK Absorption chiller / heat pump goes further by combining decades of proven reliability with the design flexibility of multiple driving heat sources to deliver a truly reliable, more efficient, more resilient solution for more flexible applications with some unique features such as patented 2 step evaporator /absorber and parallel solution cycle for double effect design. The combination of 2-step E/A technology with double effect parallel flow cycle is accomplished with simple construction and the end result is greater application flexibility, plus an optimum balance between reliability and efficiency, which make these advanced absorption chiller / heat pump designs more attractive and more applicable than ever before.

CHP (Combined Heat and Power Supply) is an energy efficient technology that generates electricity and captures the heat that would otherwise be wasted to provide useful thermal energy - such as steam or hot water - that can be used for space heating, cooling, domestic hot water, and industrial refrigeration processes.

Bangladesh has been facing severe shortage of electricity for decades and CHP system becomes major practices in Bangladesh where almost every factory, hotel, hospital and/or commercial center has its own CHP system with gas engine, HRSG (heat recovery steam generator) and absorption unit to meet the requirements in terms of electricity, cold and heat supply.

Based on the technological advancement, Johnson Controls (YORK) has won a mega CHP project - Jinnat Spinning Mills of DBL Group, which has 2 phases, and each phase will run 4-unit 800TR steam double effect absorption chillers. A signing ceremony was held on July 12th, 2023, with representatives from DBL Group, JCI Channel Partner in Bangladesh, Aziz & Company Ltd and Johnson Controls presented.
