Kelvin Group acquires PermaCold Engineering to expand in Pacific Northwest

Kelvin Group, a US-based provider of industrial and commercial refrigeration services, has acquired PermaCold Engineering, Inc., a refrigeration specialist operating in the Pacific Northwest. The transaction expands Kelvin’s geographic reach to the western United States and adds to its portfolio of regional brands. Financial terms were not disclosed.

PermaCold was founded over 30 years ago and is known for its expertise in ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems. The company serves industrial clients across the western US with a focus on complex, high-performance solutions.

This acquisition marks Kelvin’s continued expansion strategy and follows more than 10 acquisitions since its partnership with Southfield Capital began in 2017. PermaCold will join Kelvin’s group of brands, which includes ARC Mechanical, Refrigeration Design and Service, RC&E, LLC, HCG Associates, and JS Compliance.

As part of the integration, Brian Cronk, formerly Chief Operations Officer of PermaCold, will take over as President of the company.

“When we decided to sell, Randy and I were adamant in locating an organization that shares our company’s culture and values relating to customers and employees, and Kelvin more than achieved this goal,” said Steve Jackson, President of PermaCold.

“PermaCold’s deep technical expertise, admired technician team, and customer service focus make them a natural partner for Kelvin,” added Harry Gray, CEO of Kelvin.
