Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has shipped a 10MW-class centrifugal chiller test unit to the United States, with arrival at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia, scheduled around July. The unit, rated at approximately 34.1 million BTU/h, is intended to support high-density AI workloads and marks a commercialization milestone in MHI’s integrated AI infrastructure strategy.
MHI is also developing a Modular Chiller Plant (MCP), a pre-engineered cooling system that combines its centrifugal chiller with pumps, heat exchangers and controls in a modular architecture. The system is designed to support NVIDIA DSX-aligned cooling architectures and scalable liquid-cooled AI deployments while reducing onsite integration requirements.
The MCP supports free-cooling operation modes and is designed to improve Power Usage Effectiveness. Its closed-loop configuration addresses water scarcity and Water Usage Effectiveness concerns in large-scale data centers. The system is undergoing U.S. safety and regulatory certification, including UL certification, ahead of commercial deployment.
MHI participates in the NVIDIA Partner Network as a Power & Cooling Partner and is working with NVIDIA and other ecosystem partners on integrated power and cooling technologies for NVIDIA DSX. The company said its related power initiatives include 800VDC infrastructure developed with ecosystem partners.
