MHI Thermal Systems Secures Chiller Order from Empower for Dubai Cooling Plants

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems (MHI Thermal Systems) has entered an agreement with Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower) to provide large-scale centrifugal chillers for District Cooling plants in Dubai, UAE. The deal marks another collaboration between MHI and Empower, the leading global provider of district cooling services.

The agreement includes the supply of 18 advanced chillers, amounting to a total cooling capacity of 56,250 refrigeration tons (RT), with delivery commencing in 2025. There is potential to increase the order until December 2024, possibly expanding the capacity to 100,000 RT. These units will serve various projects, including residential, commercial, healthcare, educational, and multi-use facilities.

This contract follows a previous order in 2021, reflecting Empower's satisfaction with the efficiency and environmental performance of MHI's products and services. MHI President Yoshihiro Ito expressed pride in continuing the partnership, emphasizing the contribution to Dubai's energy-saving and carbon emission reduction goals.

Empower CEO H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar noted that the deal supports the district cooling sector's growth and promotes sustainable energy solutions. Empower, covering over 80% of Dubai's district cooling capacity, is committed to resource preservation for future generations.

MHI continues to support energy-efficient solutions with its centrifugal chillers, aligning with a broader vision of a carbon-neutral world.
