Munters Expands Tobo Factory with SEK 250 Million Investment

Munters is investing SEK 250 million to expand and modernize its facility in Tobo, Sweden. The investment aligns with the company's strategy to optimize manufacturing within its AirTech business area while supporting long-term growth and sustainability goals.

The Tobo facility primarily produces dehumidifying rotors and related materials used in industries such as battery and food production. With this expansion, Munters will also begin manufacturing the humidification medium GLASdek in Europe, a product previously produced only at its facility in Mexico.

“We are excited about this expansion in Tobo, which will become our European center for GLASdek manufacturing. This enables us to further develop our service and component business with new high-quality products that can be brought to market at an increasing pace, produced in a more resource-efficient manner,” says Henrik Teiwik, President of the AirTech business area.

The expansion includes automated production lines and a 9,000 m² extension to the existing facility, nearly doubling its size. The project, expected to be completed by 2026, aims to minimize its climate footprint through investments in geothermal energy and reduced transportation needs.

“We believe in Sweden as a manufacturing country and are proud to make this investment in Munters’ oldest factory, which will become a pioneer in innovation, digitalization, and resource-efficient production,” says Teiwik.

The Tobo factory currently employs close to 300 people, and Munters expects the expansion to enhance its long-term manufacturing capacity for GLASdek, despite current uncertainties in the battery market.
