Safe Monitoring Group acquires US-based Gastronics Inc.

Safe Monitoring Group (SMG), a portfolio company of Alder, has acquired Gastronics Inc., a US-based developer of wireless gas detection systems. This marks SMG’s first acquisition of a North American company and adds to its portfolio of eight gas detection brands and several service companies.

Gastronics brings over 25 years of experience in gas detection technologies, serving industries such as chemical processing, oil and gas, utilities, and critical infrastructure. The company is known for introducing the first True Wireless® Gas Detection system, which enables real-time monitoring without hardwired infrastructure.

With this acquisition, SMG strengthens its capabilities in industrial, commercial, refrigeration, and process markets, expanding its presence in North America and the Middle East.

Kevin McKeigue, President of SMG Americas, stated: “The acquisition of Gastronics significantly expands Safe Monitoring Group’s global footprint and positions us for accelerated growth in North America. Gastronics brings a strong customer base in both North America and the Middle East, while adding complementary gas sensing technologies, detection solutions, and regulatory certifications that enhance our ability to serve industrial and energy markets worldwide.”

Bud Dungan, Founder and CEO of Gastronics, commented: “Joining Safe Monitoring Group is an exciting next chapter for Safe Monitoring Group and the Gastronics brand. This transaction provides access to a global manufacturing platform, expanded supply chain capabilities, and a broad sales network. With a shared commitment to innovation, we look forward to accelerating new product development and expanding application-specific certifications across our portfolio.”
