Swegon has officially opened an expanded production facility in Heppenheim, Germany, consolidating its climate ceiling manufacturing operations into a single 7,000 m² site. The move brings together expertise and infrastructure previously split between Heppenheim and St. Leon-Rot, and supports the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in core European markets.
The Heppenheim facility will focus on producing modular climate ceilings for office and commercial buildings, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. These systems are designed for both new construction and refurbishment projects. The updated site features optimized workflows, a new shuttle racking system, and modern infrastructure.
The integration of Barcol-Air and Zent-Frenger into Swegon Klimadecken GmbH has also been finalized, streamlining operations in Germany. The Barcol-Air brand will continue to operate outside of Germany.
“Our network of production sites and the active exchange of knowledge between them help us develop a geographically wide-reaching system, but where each site has a strong local presence,” said Andreas Örje Wellstam, CEO of the Swegon Group.
The Heppenheim expansion includes new technology for increased flexibility and reduced lead times. A new Swegon heat pump using R290 (propane) has been installed to support energy-efficient heating and cooling, alongside two existing units. The facility runs entirely on green electricity and includes features such as high insulation, LED lighting, and a green roof.
“By concentrating manufacturing in Heppenheim, we have created a centre of expertise and production designed for efficiency and speed,” said Stefan Steckel, Head of Operations and Procurement at the Heppenheim site.
