Systemair Emission Targets Approved by SBTi

Targets include 42% emissions cut by 2030/31 and net-zero by 2050/51.

Systemair has received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near- and long-term greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. The endorsement affirms that the Swedish ventilation specialist’s climate goals align with the global objective of limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C.

The targets cover all three emission scopes. By the 2030/31 fiscal year, Systemair aims to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and cut scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products by 25%, using 2023/24 as the baseline. In the long term, the company targets a 90% reduction in absolute emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050/51.

Approximately 96% of Systemair’s emissions stem from the operation of its products (scope 3), particularly in regions where electricity is still largely generated from fossil fuels.

"That our targets have been reviewed and approved by SBTi is a stamp of quality on our sustainability work," said Roland Kasper, President and CEO of Systemair.

The company emphasizes that energy efficiency will remain central to product development. “Even in countries where fossil-free electricity is available, energy efficiency is important... Energy efficiency is key to making the whole equation work,” said Lee Morgan, Group Sustainability Director at Systemair.

The SBTi, a collaboration between CDP, the UN Global Compact, WRI, and WWF, supports companies in setting science-based targets to halve global emissions before 2030 and reach net-zero before 2050. Systemair’s commitment aligns with efforts across the building sector, which accounts for roughly 40% of global energy demand.
