Vertiv Launches Global Liquid Cooling Services to Enhance System Reliability and Performance

Vertiv Launches Global Liquid Cooling Services to Enhance System Reliability and Performance

Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure solutions, has introduced Vertiv Liquid Cooling Services, a comprehensive offering to support the entire lifecycle of liquid-cooled systems. These services, now globally available, aim to help data center operators improve system availability, boost efficiency, and manage the challenges of advanced liquid cooling with confidence.

Having refined best practices over the past year with early adopters, Vertiv’s global expansion brings a proven and mature service model to data centers worldwide. "This experience brings a mature and proven approach," the company stated, providing expert support based on real-world application and success.

As AI workloads reshape the data center landscape, increasing rack densities and power demands are driving the growing need for liquid cooling solutions. While 30 kW racks are becoming standard, some configurations can exceed 120 kW. This shift requires robust support for managing high heat loads and ensuring operational continuity.

Sean Graham, research director of cloud and data centers at IDC, emphasized the importance of comprehensive support, stating: “The increasing reliance on liquid-cooled AI servers necessitates a comprehensive approach to lifecycle management. Given the complexities inherent in these cooling ecosystems, a robust support program is not merely advisable, but a best practice to ensure both system availability and long-term operational viability.”

Vertiv Liquid Cooling Services offer seamless integration with IT equipment and adjacent infrastructure. The services focus on ensuring system reliability by providing installation and commissioning, ongoing maintenance, and specialized fluid management. Traditional maintenance methods are insufficient for liquid cooling systems, particularly those supporting critical AI applications. Vertiv’s services include preventive and condition-based maintenance to enhance performance and maximize availability.

Key components of the Vertiv Liquid Cooling Services include:

  • Startup & commissioning services – Proactive identification and resolution of potential installation issues to ensure a smooth system launch and optimal equipment performance.
  • Spare parts availability – Fast access to replacement components to reduce downtime and enable quicker repairs.
  • End-to-end lifecycle support – Digital and proactive maintenance ensures long-term reliability, with documentation of processes to support the secondary fluid network.
  • Comprehensive fluid management – Coolant sampling, laboratory testing, contamination prevention, and environmentally responsible disposal maximize system longevity and efficiency.
  • Emergency and preventive support – Rapid on-site and remote support minimizes downtime and restores operations swiftly.

Ryan Jarvis, vice president of global services business at Vertiv, highlighted the growing importance of liquid cooling in high-performance computing (HPC) and AI environments. “HPC and AI are critical to business innovation and competitive advantage, making reliability and efficiency in supporting critical digital infrastructure more important than ever. As organizations continue to invest in AI-driven systems, they need robust liquid cooling solutions to protect their investment and enable long-term performance,” said Jarvis.

Vertiv’s global expansion of its liquid cooling services underscores the increasing demand for advanced cooling solutions in high-density computing environments, as organizations look to maintain operational continuity while optimizing performance and efficiency.
