Global HVAC air quality monitoring market is forecast to reach USD 75.4B by 2035

Future Market Insights says the global HVAC Air Quality Monitoring Market, valued at USD 46.3 billion in 2025, is projected to reach USD 75.4 billion by 2035, reflecting a 5.0% CAGR. The outlook describes a shift in facility management toward proactive environmental intelligence, driven by green building regulations, post-pandemic health awareness, and the need for operational efficiency. The report adds that the market is expected to exceed USD 51.1 billion by 2027.

The outlook also points to a move from reactive sensing to higher-precision, AI-integrated ecosystems. It says updates in Building Management Systems (BMS) are enabling thermostats and sensors to predict weather changes and occupancy patterns in real time, adjusting indoor climates ahead of external environmental shifts.

By segment, stationary systems lead with a 53.7% share, supported by their integration with automated ventilation controls in high-occupancy commercial and industrial environments. Chemical pollutants represent a 45.4% share, linked in the report to concerns over Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde, with sensor technologies described as capable of detecting microscopic chemical concentrations in environments such as cleanrooms and pharmaceutical laboratories. Industrial applications account for a 38.9% share, with the report citing compliance with workplace safety norms and product integrity needs in food processing and electronics manufacturing, alongside growing IoT and cloud integration for real-time analytics via smartphone apps or cloud-connected dashboards.

Regionally, the highest growth rates are cited in Asia-Pacific, while the United States and Europe remain significant revenue centers. Future Market Insights lists projected 2025–2035 CAGRs of 6.8% for China, 6.3% for India, 5.8% for Germany, 4.8% for the United Kingdom, and 4.3% for the United States. In the U.S., the report references the Airborne Act, describing proposed tax credits of up to USD 50 per square foot (approx. USD 538 per square meter) for commercial building owners upgrading HVAC systems with improved monitoring and filtration technologies.

The report ties demand to green building and compliance frameworks, including WELL Building Standard and LEED v4.1, and notes a January 2026 World Health Organization update to its global database of air quality standards covering PM2.5 and NO2. It also cites updates to the EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that “explicitly mandate” integrating air quality sensors in new constructions and significant renovations across EU member states. On competition, it highlights Honeywell and Siemens for integrated monitoring and building automation compatibility, Agilent and Thermo Fisher for high-precision analytical instruments in high-risk institutional settings, and names PerkinElmer Inc, Teledyne Technologies, and Emerson Electric Co.

Future Market Insights also flags constraints including high upfront costs for advanced sensor arrays, complexity of integrating monitors into legacy building infrastructure, and the need for frequent professional calibration to avoid “sensor drift.” It says a shift toward “plug-and-play” IoT devices is expected to reduce these barriers through 2035.
