Danfoss has announced a range of thermal management solutions for electric buses, including transcritical CO2 compressors, ahead of Busworld Europe 2025. The company is targeting the growing demand for zero-emission public transport systems and the need for efficient, sustainable HVACR technologies.
Key offerings include the BOCK HG and HR series compressors, optimized for use with the natural refrigerant R744 (CO2). The product lineup features models such as the HG 12, HG24 CO2 T, and the HRX40 CO2 T, all designed for mobile air conditioning systems. According to Danfoss, the compressors are compact, lightweight, and operate with low noise and vibration, offering broad heating and cooling capacity ranges.
Danfoss also introduced the HGZ44, a new two-in-one compressor for truck refrigeration applications. The model is designed to support A2L and hydrocarbon refrigerants and features an aluminum housing for reduced weight. The unit is validated for mobile applications and is expected to receive UL certification by mid-2026.
In addition to compressors, Danfoss offers line components such as thermostatic and electric expansion valves, solenoid valves, filter driers, and brazed plate heat exchangers for the bus industry. The company also provides electrification solutions through its Editron and Silicon Power divisions, aiming to support OEMs in developing complete powertrain systems.
“BOCK has over 25 years of experience in working with CO2 compressor technology, and we look forward to presenting our wide range of compressors to Busworld attendees,” said Ralf Havermann, Head of Danfoss BOCK Compressors. “One of our goals is to be our customers’ preferred decarbonization partner, and that includes the OEMs we work with in the bus transportation sector.”
