LAUDA launches Universa thermostat line with modular, connected design

LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG has introduced LAUDA Universa, a new line of bath and circulation thermostats developed for laboratory and industrial applications. The modular system supports customized configurations, integrates digital control features, and uses natural refrigerants across all models.

The Universa series is based on four pillars: customizability, performance, connectivity, and sustainability. It includes three variants—ECO, PRO, and MAX—offering different performance levels. Users can combine baths, control heads, and cooling units modularly, and expand configurations by replacing individual components. Identical bath openings allow for shared use of accessories such as covers and racks.

Temperature ranges from -90 to 300°C with stability of up to ±0.01 K. Heating outputs reach 3.6 kW and cooling outputs up to 1.6 kW. All models support both internal and external temperature control, with short heating and cooling times designed to improve reproducibility and process stability.

Each device is equipped with USB, Ethernet, and WiFi interfaces as standard. Universa thermostats can be operated remotely via the LAUDA Command app and integrated with the LAUDA.LIVE Services IoT platform. PRO and MAX versions can include up to 11 interface modules, including analog, EtherCAT, and OPC/UA.

All Universa models use natural refrigerants, with quantities below 100 g. They feature inverter-controlled compressors designed for energy efficiency and quiet operation. An optimized ventilation concept protects internal electronics by minimizing condensation and vapor intrusion. The product line includes a 5-year premium warranty and is both CE- and NRTL-certified.

«With the new Universa product line, we have responded to our customers’ requirements and created a well-thought-out system that stands out for its modular structure, high performance, connectivity and, not least, its sustainability,» said Dr. Gunther Wobser, Managing Director of LAUDA.
