Lennox Residential HVAC has launched the SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump, engineered for efficient performance in extreme cold. Designed to operate in temperatures as low as -20°F (-28.9°C), the unit delivers 150% greater efficiency in colder conditions compared to standard heat pumps.
The SL22KLV features a variable-speed compressor with electronic refrigerant injection (ERI) technology, dynamically adjusting energy usage based on outdoor temperatures. The heat pump achieves efficiency ratings of up to 21.10 SEER2, 13.2 EER2, and 10.50 HSPF2, helping homeowners reduce energy costs while maintaining year-round comfort. Additionally, a sound-dampening system and a precision-balanced, direct-drive fan ensure quiet operation.
"At Lennox, we are committed to advancing HVAC technology to meet the evolving needs of our customers," said Prakash Bedapudi, Chief Technology Officer at Lennox. "The SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump exemplifies our dedication to innovation, integrating cutting-edge features that ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency even in the most challenging climates."
The SL22KLV pairs with the Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat, allowing automatic adjustments for precise temperature control. Built-in sensors help optimize performance and assist dealers with maintenance and troubleshooting.
In line with updated EPA refrigerant regulations, the SL22KLV uses R-454B, a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, reducing environmental impact while maintaining high performance. The unit is also eligible for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and other regional utility incentives.
Lennox continues its legacy of innovation, building on its participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP) Technology Challenge. The SL22KLV enhances the unit developed for the challenge, incorporating the latest advancements in efficiency and sustainability.
