Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC (METUS) has introduced its ecodanPro product line for hydronic heating and domestic hot water (DHW) three-phase applications. The first solution debuting in the line is the ecodanPro CAHV heat pump water heater.
The CAHV is a modular air-source heat pump unit for space heating and industrial hot water applications. It uses low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R454C and delivers outlet water temperatures up to 165 F (74 C). METUS lists applications including multi-family residences, hospitals, factories, dormitories, hotels, and health centers.
METUS says the CAHV can be installed as a single unit or grouped in systems of up to 16 units for scalable capacity. The unit has a nominal operating capacity of 136,480 BTU/H (approx. 40.0 kW) and uses a modular design with grooved piping connections aimed at simplifying installation for retrofit and new construction projects. The company also notes that design support tools and resources are available for engineers and contractors to optimize performance for specific site requirements.
For operation and maintenance, METUS highlights features including wide operating temperature ranges, anti-freeze protection, and a robust water-side design. The CAHV system also offers operational modes such as capacity priority and eco (outdoor air reset) settings, integrated rotation functions for balanced run hours across grouped units, and remote control options for scheduling and system management.
“The future of hydronic heating and domestic hot water is all-electric, all-climate air-source heat pumps,” said David Archer, Vice President of Commercial Business, METUS. “Buildings and industrial facilities transitioning away from fossil-fuel burning systems are looking for future-proof options. The ecodanPro product line will help create all-electric spaces in many industries.”
