Mirai Intex announces the launch of an entirely new machine line – MIRAI H2. Line developed and designed to help grow the number of Hydrogen Fueling Stations using refrigeration technology with zero ecological impact. MIRAI H2 units were developed with attention to safety related to hydrogen use. Additional safety systems, features and special software is part of the MIRAI H2 package. One particular change for MIRAI H2 is the use of Nitrogen instead of Air due to safety reasons.
New models in product line are:
• MIRAI H2-35
• MIRAI H2-35 T
• MIRAI H2-100
• MIRAI H2-100 T
The number represents kilograms of hydrogen according to standard (MIRAI H2-35 is able to cool down 35 kg of H2 per hour).
There are two options how the MIRAI H2 operates. Either indirect cooling where nitrogen cools down hydrogen in external heat exchanger. Or in indirect cooling where nitrogen cools down heat transfer fluid in an additional heat exchanger inside MIRAI H2 and heat transfer fluid cools down hydrogen in external heat transfer fluid – “T-models”.
Machines are optimized to provide cooling capacity to respect SAE J2601 for T40 dispensers which means the turbo-modules design temperature was -40 °C.
MIRAI H2 shares the key benefits of MIRAI Cold in elimination of lubricants and other chemically active substances, easy control and stress-free operation.
Precooling of dispensed hydrogen has never been easier and more ecological than with MIRAI H2.
The hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe by European Commission
As published in the hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe by European Commission [1], Europe should reach carbon neutrality by 2050. And hydrogen is essential to support this initiative. There is a long way to switch from H2 produced from fossil fuels to low-carbon / renewable H2 and its mass spread. Investment in hydrogen will foster sustainable growth and jobs, which will be critical in the context of recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. Initiative to unlock investments in key clean technologies should be addressed.
EU industry developed 3-phase plan:
• First phase 2020-2024 should install at least 6 GW of renewable hydrogen electrolysers and produce 1 million tons of clean H2
• Second phase 2025-2030 should install at least 40 GW of renewable hydrogen electrolysers and produce 10 million tons of clean H2
• Third phase 2030-2050 should support hydrogen technologies to reach maturity and deploy H2 at large scale to reach all hard-to-decarbonize sectors
Mirai Intex is known as a pioneer of future proof technologies in the Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) refrigeration sector. The sector which is burdened with the use of refrigerants having an immense impact on ecology. Typically used refrigerant in this sector (R23) has a Global Warming Potential of 14 800. Other frequently used coolant – Liquid Nitrogen – brings other challenges. Mirai’s vision of changing this industry required the opposite approach – use of one of the most ecological refrigerants – Air. Air cycle refrigeration machine allows air through repetition of compression and expansion to reach temperatures up to -130 °C. Developed portfolio of MIRAI Cold refrigeration machines grew past few years to satisfy customer needs requiring Ultra-Low Temperatures. MIRAI Cold Open Cycle is ideal for storage application sand Whole-Body Cryotherapy. MIRAI Cold Closed Cycle is ideal for process cooling freeze-drying and solvent recovery.
