New Boston by Danfoss liquid cooling hoses offer efficient cooling of electric vehicles

Danfoss Power Solutions, a leading global supplier of mobile and industrial hydraulics as well as electric powertrain systems, has launched two new hose solutions specifically for liquid cooling applications. Boston by Danfoss Emperor EHW094 TPU hose and Royal EHW194 EPDM hose offer superior performance and high flexibility for electric vehicles, data centers, and other liquid cooling needs.

As electric equipment and machinery becomes more powerful and complex, liquid cooling has emerged as a more energy-efficient and cost-effective alternative to air cooling systems. Both Emperor EHW094 and Royal EHW194 hoses are optimized for liquid cooling applications to provide reliable and leak-free fluid conveyance. Liquid cooling can significantly improve efficiency, opening up new possibilities for machine design.

Emperor EHW094 hose meets the highest-level flame rating available (UL 94 V-0) and is non-conductive at 25,000+ volts dielectric strength. Constructed from thermoplastic polyurethane, it is the first solution of its kind for liquid cooling. Royal EHW194 is also UL 94 V-0 rated. It features a synthetic EPDM rubber construction with fire retardant cover. Both hoses offer high flexibility with torsional strain and kink resistance to simplify routing in tight spaces.

“The need to remove heat efficiently and effectively is a considerable challenge in designing today’s electric equipment,” said Dimitar Atanasov; global product management leader for Fuel, Air Conditioning, Thermoplastic, and Specialty hoses; Danfoss Power Solutions. “Selection criteria for cooling components differs by application, which is why we’ve designed and added these two new options to our portfolio of cooling solutions. Our non-conductive Emperor EHW094 TPU hose delivers in both performance and reliability, while our Royal EHW194 EPDM hose represents a cost-effective solution to meet a number of application needs.”

Emperor EHW094 hose and Royal EHW194 hose are both available in six sizes and a range of colors.

Danfoss Power Solutions’ new EverCool EC005 thermoformable air conditioning hose

Danfoss Power Solutions has launched its next-generation air conditioning hose for liquid lines in agriculture, construction, and commercial vehicle applications. The new EverCool EC005 Type G A/C hose simplifies installation while offering weight reduction and proven reliability.

The new EC005 hose is fully thermoformable, even over long lengths, eliminating the need for compound hose/metal tube combinations. Thermoformed hose assemblies minimize connection points, reducing the number of potential leak paths. They also simplify installation in crowded engine compartments and overcome the challenges associated with complex hose routings.

EC005 hose features the same dual-extruded polyamide inner tube as GH001 Type E hose — a construction that has proven its reliability over many years. This technology, in combination with double O-ring flat crimp fittings, guarantees extremely low permeation.

The thermoplastic cover offers the advantages of plastic formability, higher abrasion resistance, improved corrosion resistance, and significant weight reduction, which in turn reduces the vehicle weight and thus fuel consumption. EC005 hose is non-conductive and suitable for all common refrigerants and oils. It is ideal for liquid phases of the refrigerant cycle.

“Our new EC005 hose is a value-oriented solution that does not compromise on performance or reliability,” said Ralf Wilde; Fuel, Air Conditioning, Thermoplastic, and Specialty hoses product manager – EMEA; Danfoss Power Solutions. “We can now offer the best combination of performance and cost for mobile A/C lines: our new EC005 Type G hose for liquid lines, our GH001 Type E hose for discharge lines, and our EC007 Type C for suction lines.”

EC005 hose meets or exceeds SAE International standards, including SAE J3062, J2064, and J3143. The hose is available in nominal diameters of 8 and 10 millimeters and features a maximum operating pressure of 35 bar (500 psi) and temperature range of -30°C to 125°C (-22°F to 257°F).
