Pfannenberg Introduces DHS Hybrid Series for Energy-Efficient Enclosure Cooling

Pfannenberg, Inc. has launched the DHS Hybrid Series (DHS 34X1), a cooling solution that combines free cooling and active cooling to protect critical electronics while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

“The DHS-Series combines the best of free cooling and active cooling to radically impact an end-user's energy consumption and carbon emissions while cooling their critical electronics,” said James Wong, Pfannenberg’s Director of Global NEMA Product Management.

The system enhances efficiency by using free cooling when outside air is cool enough to dissipate heat from the enclosure, reducing the need for active cooling. When temperatures exceed a set threshold, active cooling, which involves a compressor and refrigerant cycle, takes over. This dual approach reduces energy use, provides redundancy in a single unit, and minimizes downtime. The DHS-Series also features a user-friendly status display and fits all full-sized enclosures.

The DHS-Series is available in Type 12 (indoor), Type 3R/4 (outdoor), and Type 4X (washdown) configurations, making it suitable for applications such as automotive manufacturing, warehouse automation, outdoor facilities, and food and beverage production. It is particularly beneficial for locations with lower ambient temperatures, climate-controlled environments, or operations that run at partial capacity.

The DHS-Series meets UL 60335 electrical safety standards and is pre-gasketed for easier installation. It is also designed to comply with upcoming environmental regulations related to the use of R-513A refrigerant.
