Tower Tech Launches Composite Cooling Towers

Tower Tech, the leading cooling tower manufacturer, is proud to announce its line of cooling towers featuring StormStrong Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) corrosion-resistant technology. The StormStrong cooling towers are capable of handling hurricane-force winds, earthquakes and weather-related stresses with minimal to no damage.

Tower Tech’s StormStrong cooling towers are an upgrade option for all current models. StormStrong towers are engineered for extreme weather and come with a 200-mph wind load capacity; hurricane missile impact level-D rating, which is the highest-rated level of any cooling tower; and offer engineering certifications that meet seismic pre-approval requirements of OSHPD, now known as the California Health Department Care Access and Information (HCAI). Additionally, the thermal performance of all Tower Tech’s TTXL and TTXR towers is certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI).

“We feel it is critical to provide StormStrong options for our customers with the strongest rated cooling tower build in the industry,” says Tech Tower President, Mathu Solo. “With more than 5,000 modular towers installed worldwide, we know that many of them have taken direct hits from the most powerful hurricanes. Our customers have never had to replace a cooling tower damaged by a hurricane, and we have never had to make repairs to a tower due to high wind events.”  Oftentimes, Tower Tech-designed towers are employed to replace conventionally designed cooling towers that have been severely damaged or have lost open louvers and fan stacks during a hurricane event.

Cooling towers are critical to a business process. Companies stand to lose millions of dollars annually due to damaging weather events, requiring them to shut down operations to repair or replace equipment, resulting in additional losses. With StormStrong cooling towers, companies can avoid damage and loss due to weather events. The cooling towers also use up to 40% less energy and present up to 10% water savings for additional cost efficiencies.
