Trane has launched the Aries N Deep Freezing, a packaged screw compressor chiller designed to deliver leaving fluid temperatures down to -30°C (-22°F). The new unit uses R290 refrigerant described by the company as non-ozone-depleting and zero global warming potential.
The Aries N Deep Freezing expands Trane’s industrial cooling portfolio for food and beverage, refrigerated warehouses, pharmaceutical and chemical applications. The range offers capacities up to 360 kW (approx. 1.23 million BTU/h) and is positioned as a factory-engineered packaged alternative to bespoke NH3 or CO2 solutions.
The units are available in seven sizes with single- and dual-circuit configurations. Each circuit features one variable frequency drive screw compressor, while the units incorporate a microchannel condenser and brazed plate heat exchanger evaporator.
The operating map covers leaving fluid temperatures from -12°C to -30°C (10.4°F to -22°F) and ambient conditions from -20°C to +46°C (-4°F to 114.8°F). The range is SEPR-LT compliant for low-temperature applications and includes SDS2E safety features comprising Segregation box, Leak Detector, Stop, Signal and Gas Expulsion Fan for operation with R290.
“Most industrial sites require thermal management systems across a range of temperature levels, from deep freezing up to process heating. Trane’s broadest and most comprehensive thermal systems portfolio helps customers address all these needs while repurposing waste energy, and delivering efficiency gains up to 170%,” said Erik Van Oossanen, Product Management Leader at Trane.
