Trane Technologies launches AI-based controls for HVAC optimization

Trane Technologies has introduced two new AI-driven solutions—AI Control and ARIA—designed to improve energy efficiency and building performance in commercial HVAC systems.

AI Control is a fully integrated system that leverages real-time building data, including occupancy, weather forecasts, and energy consumption, to automatically adjust HVAC operations. According to the company, this solution can reduce heating and cooling energy costs by up to 25% and carbon emissions by up to 40%. It integrates into Trane’s existing Tracer SC+ Building Automation System and Trane Autonomous Control, requiring no additional equipment or staffing.

The second solution, ARIA, is an AI-based agent offering building managers conversational access to HVAC system insights through desktop or mobile interfaces in over 14 languages. ARIA enables users to diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and prioritize maintenance tasks.

Both technologies were developed by the BrainBox AI Lab, Trane Technologies’ digital innovation division focused on advanced heating and cooling solutions.

“Our vision is to unlock next-generation building performance, delivering both immediate and long-term benefits for our customers and the planet,” said Riaz Raihan, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Trane Technologies.
