Enex Technologies Highlights Data Center Efficiency and Sustainability at Milan Panel

Enex Technologies hosted a panel discussion on future-ready data center solutions during Data Center Nation, held at the Allianz MICO Convention Centre in Milan. The session, titled "Pioneering Future-Proof Solutions for Data Centers Efficiency and Reliability," focused on enhancing efficiency, meeting regulatory demands, and advancing sustainable cooling technologies.

Moderated by Luca Marini, Marcom & ESG Director at Enex Technologies, the panel featured industry experts Mirko Simoni and Giuseppe Pilone of Emicon – Enex Technologies, along with Gianpietro Locatelli and Giambattista Micheli of ETS S.p.A.

The discussion emphasized the increasing importance of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the design of data centers. According to the panel, BIM helps reduce construction time, manage costs, and minimize system interferences. It also supports improved collaboration across project stakeholders.

Speakers highlighted the pressing need for data centers to boost energy efficiency in response to tightening regulations. Achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.3 is becoming a critical target for operators aiming to reduce environmental impact.

The shift to low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants was another central theme. Starting in 2027, new regulations will require the use of refrigerants with GWP values below 750 in chillers with cooling capacities above 12 kWf (approximately 3.4 RT). Panelists noted that this transition is essential for aligning with sustainability goals.

The session also underscored the role of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in ensuring system performance. “FAT is the only guarantee of results in an era of self-certification,” one panelist noted, pointing to the gap that can exist between theoretical and real-world performance.

Throughout the event, collaboration between system designers, manufacturers, and clients was emphasized as key to creating efficient and tailored data center solutions.

This marks the fourth year of Enex Technologies’ participation in Data Center Nation. At their booth, the company showcased customizable products such as adiabatic dry coolers, which reduce water usage by up to 25% compared to standard solutions, along with evaporative towers and water-cooled precision air conditioners designed for exact temperature control.

Enex Technologies continues to focus on developing sustainable HVAC technologies suited to the evolving needs of mission-critical infrastructure.
