On 30 July 2024, Cool Up organized a workshop in Ankara dedicated to developing the National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP) in Türkiye. The event was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Climate Change in Türkiye and Cool Up’s country partner, UNDP Türkiye.

The workshop began with opening remarks by Mr. Volkan Polat, Head of the Department of Monitoring Greenhouse Gas Emissions of the Directorate of Climate Change in Türkiye, and Mrs. Neşen Surmeli-Anaç, Cool Up Project Manager. Participants discussed ongoing developments in F-gas regulation, sustainable cooling financing, and cooling demand modeling for the NCAP. The workshop also aimed to identify sector problems and solutions, discuss policy measures, and key strategies of the NCAP, ensuring their alignment with national and international goals.

The roundtable provided an opportunity to discuss the next steps in developing the National Cooling Action Plan (NCAP) in Türkiye. This discussion built on the foundation laid on 7 June 2023, when the Turkish Climate Change Directorate announced the launch of Türkiye's first NCAP at a thematic group meeting of the Cool Up programme attended by key national stakeholders from policy, industry, and academia in Ankara.

The NCAP is a crucial step towards sustainable cooling and contributes to climate neutrality for Türkiye. The Directorate of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change leads the NCAP development supported by the Cool Up programme.
