Sensata Technologies has introduced its FL Series Ultrasonic Flow Sensors for liquid cooling systems in data centers and industrial applications. The sensors provide continuous coolant flow monitoring at rates up to 400 liters per minute (105.7 US gal/min), helping operators identify potential flow issues and maintain cooling system performance for AI and high-performance computing infrastructure.
The FL Series uses non-intrusive ultrasonic technology to measure flow with accuracy of up to ±1% of full scale. Designed for primary and secondary cooling loops, the sensors support coolant distribution units (CDUs), chillers, HVAC systems and industrial cooling equipment. The technology provides stable measurements under varying coolant conditions, including the presence of bubbles.
The sensors are compatible with deionized water and glycol mixtures. Digital and analog outputs enable integration with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), building management systems and other control platforms. Customers can choose from different housing materials, connection types and communication protocols, with optional integrated temperature sensing.
The FL Series features an IP65-rated design, no moving parts and low pressure drop to support reliable, low-maintenance operation. Continuous flow monitoring can help operators detect insufficient or excessive coolant flow, support proactive maintenance and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime.
“As AI and high-performance computing place greater demands on data center infrastructure, effective cooling is becoming increasingly critical,” said Alice Martins, EVP and President of Industrials at Sensata Technologies. “Sensata brings capabilities across the data center environment, from thermal management to electrical protection and power management. The FL Series builds on that broader portfolio, giving customers reliable flow data to help them manage cooling performance and keep critical systems operating reliably.”
