Carrier has received official recognition from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as an Energy Skilled training provider for heat pump installation. Several of Carrier’s “My Learning Center Heat Pump Training” programs now meet DOE standards aimed at equipping HVAC technicians to support the transition to high-efficiency systems.
The Energy Skilled designation applies to multiple training paths offered by Carrier and underscores the company’s focus on workforce development for sustainable HVAC technologies. According to Nick Arch, Vice President and General Manager, Residential HVAC Solutions at Carrier, the recognition reflects the quality of the training and the company’s broader goal of promoting energy efficiency.
Carrier supports a nationwide network of Factory Authorized Dealers, where technicians must hold NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification. Many of these technicians have also passed the heat pump specialty exam, which now qualifies them under the DOE’s Energy Skilled designation through NATE.
To broaden access, Carrier plans to expand the availability of DOE-aligned training through its My Learning Center platform. This aims to ensure that more HVAC professionals can deliver energy-efficient system upgrades.
The Energy Skilled designation provides benefits for contractors, including increased online visibility and greater credibility with energy-conscious homeowners.
