The Green Cooling Summit 2025, organized by the German Environment Agency (UBA) and GIZ Proklima on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), will take place virtually on May 20-21, 2025. This year’s event centers on sustainable cooling and heating solutions for buildings, emphasizing the benefits of natural refrigerants.
Global cooling demand in buildings is projected to triple by 2050, potentially resulting in 6.1 billion tons of CO2 equivalent emissions, according to UNEP’s 2023 Global Cooling Watch. The summit aims to address this challenge by highlighting the critical role of sustainable solutions and passive building measures in reducing environmental impact.
Participants can expect two days of keynote speeches, presentations, and discussions focused on practical applications and the competitiveness of natural refrigerant technologies. Organizers aim to demonstrate that these solutions are not only environmentally friendly but also viable and future-proof.
