Emergent Cold LatAm acquires Frialsa Peru to expand Lima operations

Emergent Cold LatAm acquires Frialsa Peru to expand Lima operations

Emergent Cold LatAm has acquired Frialsa Peru, a joint venture with Grupo Wiese, strengthening its presence in the Lima area and expanding its cold storage and logistics services in the country.

Frialsa operates two cold storage facilities in the Lima region—one in Callao near the main port terminal and another in Lurin, south of the capital. These facilities will complement Emergent Cold LatAm’s existing warehouse within the DP World container depot in Callao. The company now manages over 260,000 cubic meters of storage capacity and approximately 33,000 pallet positions in Lima. Including its Piura facility in northern Peru, the total local capacity exceeds 40,000 pallet positions. The acquisition also adds blast freezing and transportation services to the company’s offerings in Peru.

Lars Reyes, previously General Manager at Frialsa, has been appointed Country Manager for Peru at Emergent Cold LatAm. His team will continue supporting local operations.

“Peru is an important part of our regional investment strategy,” said David Palfenier, President of Emergent Cold LatAm. “We always viewed Frialsa’s Peru operations as an ideal fit for our network due to the quality of its facilities, the complementary customer base and the strong management team led by Lars.”

“This acquisition substantially improves our network coverage and offerings in Lima,” added Joaquin del Campo, Managing Director for the Pacific region.

44 Capital Finanças Corporativas served as financial advisor, and Rebaza, Alcázar & De Las Casas acted as legal advisor to Emergent Cold LatAm.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Modular Refrigeration Systems in Life Sciences Distribution Centers

by Ramez Naguib, P.E. Introduction Life sciences distribution centers are under immense pressure to deliver consistent temperature control, comply with increasingly stringent regulations, and optimize operational efficiency. Traditional built-up refrigeration systems often prove cumbersome, costly, and slow to implement. In contrast, modular, factory-assembled refrigeration systems have emerged as a compelling alternative. Drawing on lessons from
