Maersk opens flagship logistics centre in Lin-gang, China

A.P. Moller - Maersk has inaugurated its new flagship logistics centre in Shanghai’s Lin-gang area, representing one of its largest warehousing investments worldwide. The facility, developed with an investment exceeding USD 140 million, spans 113,000 square meters and provides 147,000 square meters of storage space.

The Lin-gang Flagship Logistics Centre is designed to serve customers in China, the Asia-Pacific region, and global markets. Integrated into Maersk’s logistics network, the centre provides export and import distribution, regional and global hub operations, and cross-border e-commerce fulfilment. Value-added services include temperature-controlled storage and customised solutions.

The facility supports bonded and non-bonded goods in a single location and benefits from Maersk’s customs expertise and Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification, enabling fast and efficient clearance processes.

Strategically located approximately 40 km from Shanghai Yangshan Port, the centre links seamlessly with Maersk’s ocean, air, and land services. It comprises four ramp warehouses and one fully automated intelligent warehouse equipped with technologies such as automated storage and retrieval systems, autonomous mobile robots, and advanced warehouse management software.

The logistics centre is equipped with solar panels expected to supply over 70% of its electricity needs. It also includes fully electric equipment, rainwater harvesting systems, and resource recycling. The facility is applying for LEED Gold certification.

“Our new state-of-the-art logistics centre in Lin-gang is another milestone in the implementation of Maersk’s integrated logistics strategy in the Chinese market,” said Vincent Clerc, CEO at Maersk.

“With the omnichannel fulfilment capabilities of this new warehouse, customers can now achieve this goal and efficiently meet both B2B and B2C requirements,” added Silvia Ding, Managing Director of Maersk Greater China.
