Refrigeration technicians from eight countries participated in a two-week Cool Training program in Germany from September 14 to 25, 2026. The program focused on the safe and efficient use of natural refrigerants, combining practical training at the Bundesfachschule Kälte-Klima-Technik (BFS) with an industry visit to Nordfrost.
Participants came from Barbados, Botswana, Dominica, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Thailand, and Uruguay. The training was led by BFS instructor Reiner Mayers and provided hands-on experience with natural refrigerants, including the tools, operating procedures, and safety protocols required for refrigeration systems.
During a visit to Nordfrost, participants observed ammonia-based refrigeration systems in commercial operation. The visit provided insights into system maintenance, operational reliability, and safety management under actual plant conditions.
Many participants were team leaders, trainers, and entrepreneurs who could transfer the acquired knowledge to their companies and institutions. The program aimed to strengthen technical competencies in natural refrigerant handling, improve operational efficiency, and support informed technology decisions in participants’ home markets.
The training also included opportunities for participants to exchange professional experiences and explore Frankfurt during a weekend break.
