Eurovent has published a new Recommendation offering practical guidance for HVACR companies on aligning their operations with the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities. The document aims to support stakeholders in understanding and applying the Taxonomy Regulation (EU 2020/852) and its delegated acts within the HVACR context.
The EU Taxonomy provides a standardized framework to determine whether economic activities meet the criteria for environmental sustainability. Eurovent’s Recommendation addresses how HVACR manufacturing can be assessed under the relevant Technical Screening Criteria of the Taxonomy, contributing to the broader goals of the European Green Deal and the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.
The document was developed by the Eurovent Task Force ‘Taxonomy and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)’ (TF-TAXO), which facilitates information sharing among members and coordinates actions to adapt the Taxonomy framework to better reflect HVACR-specific needs.
“Taxonomy criteria are not always clear and unambiguous, and some interpretation is often required,” said Stijn Renneboog, Deputy Secretary General of Eurovent. “This Eurovent Recommendation clarifies how to interpret the relevant Technical Screening Criteria for HVACR manufacturing activities, which should facilitate Taxonomy assessment and ensure that manufacturers carry out their reporting in a fair and uniform way.”
The Recommendation is available for free download on the Eurovent website.
