On October 15, the Heat Pump Association (HPA) and manufacturers Kensa, Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions, and Ideal Heating, supported by the MCS Foundation, brought working heat pumps to the doorstep of Parliament. The event aimed to raise awareness and dispel myths about the technology’s role in decarbonizing UK heating.
The “Hear, See and Feel a Heat Pump” event allowed over 40 MPs, peers, councillors, and stakeholders to experience heat pumps firsthand, hear from industry experts, and understand their efficient, low-carbon heating capabilities.
Charlotte Lee, HPA Chief Executive, highlighted the importance of the event, especially with new MPs joining Westminster. “It was fantastic to meet so many MPs and stakeholders to bust myths and showcase heat pumps through hands-on experience.”
Tomas Roberto, Kensa’s Public Affairs Executive, emphasized the opportunity for MPs to see ground source heat pumps in action, sharing Kensa’s decade-long experience in heat decarbonization.
John Kellett of Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions showcased air-to-water heat pumps and hybrid systems at the event, advocating for lower-carbon homes and presenting sustainable heating technologies.
Elizabeth Wilkinson, Product Director at Ideal Heating, praised stakeholder engagement at the event and discussed the company’s investments in UK manufacturing and installer training.
David Cowdrey of The MCS Foundation noted the positive engagement from policymakers, stressing the need for consistent policy, public awareness, and standards to support heat pump adoption and counter myths confidently.
