EXKAL was highlighted at the CEPYME500 gala, an event recognizing Spain’s most dynamic and high-growth small and medium-sized enterprises. The ceremony featured notable attendees, including the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Business, Carlos Cuerpo; CEOE President Antonio Garamendi; CEPYME President Gerardo Cuervas; and Juan Flames, CEO of the Spanish Stock Exchange in Madrid.
During the event, EXKAL Managing Director Daniel Antoñanzas shared the company’s journey, emphasizing its growth, innovation, and sustainability efforts. Founded in 2005 in Navarre with just five employees, EXKAL has expanded into a global company in the commercial refrigeration and thermodynamic solutions sector. In 2023, the company reported a turnover of over €250 million and now supports more than 1,600 families through employment.
Key achievements highlighted in his speech included:
- Global Expansion: EXKAL operates seven industrial plants in Europe, one in China, and another in America, along with 12 commercial subsidiaries across three continents.
- Innovation Commitment: The company has established a dual vocational training school, a dedicated technology center, and projects in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and energy sustainability. One of its initiatives, thermal batteries for supermarkets, supports its goal of achieving zero emissions by 2040.
- Sustainability Initiatives: EXKAL’s solutions reduce electricity consumption by 80% and contribute to minimizing food waste, including projects extending the shelf life of fresh products.
- Collaboration and Social Responsibility: The company played a key role in the rapid reconstruction of supermarkets affected by the Valencia DANA storm, coordinating efforts with over 200 SMEs to restore access to essential goods.
Antoñanzas attributed EXKAL’s success to its people-centered approach, empowering employees and fostering teamwork. With this philosophy, EXKAL has been recognized five times as a CEPYME500 company, reinforcing its position as a benchmark in innovation, sustainability, and social commitment.
