Frigoveneta acquires Italy-based Freddo & Co. to expand food sector services

Ambienta’s platform company Frigoveneta has acquired Freddo & Co. S.r.l., a company specialised in the design, installation, and servicing of industrial refrigeration systems for the food industry. The transaction strengthens Frigoveneta’s position in the sector and enhances its service capabilities.

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Pianezze (Vicenza), Freddo serves a diverse client base in the food sector, including dairy, bakery, and cured meats. The company is led by Michele Piovesan, Roberto Canova, and Enrico Signorini, who will remain involved in the business and reinvest in the platform.

Freddo's expertise in centralised refrigeration systems for warehouses and process-cooling applications complements Frigoveneta’s commercial and technological capabilities. The integration is expected to support the adoption of low-GWP and natural refrigerants, especially CO2-based systems, which account for the majority of Freddo's 2025 revenue.

This is Frigoveneta’s third acquisition, following Mercuri in February and Bonera in July 2025. Ambienta began building the platform in early 2024 to create a leading player in the €12 billion European commercial and industrial refrigeration market, which is transitioning toward more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions.

Massimiliano Lecchi, Private Equity Principal at Ambienta, said: “The acquisition of Freddo is another important step in Frigoveneta’s growth journey, adding depth in the food sector and strengthening the platform’s service capabilities with a highly skilled technician base.”

Marco Rampichini, CEO of Frigoveneta, stated: “With this third add-on our group becomes one of the first players in the Italian centralised refrigeration system market. We are proud to welcome Freddo into the platform and confident that their expertise will make a valuable contribution to further expanding the business.”
