Hillphoenix installs 10,000+ feet of Close the Case systems across U.S. retailers

Hillphoenix has announced the installation of over 10,000 linear feet of its Close the Case (CTC) retrofit solution in 219 locations across three major customer accounts within a single year. The large-scale deployment highlights the scalability of the CTC program, which upgrades open refrigerated cases with glass doors to improve energy efficiency and operational performance.

One national retailer with stores in 20 U.S. states implemented over 3,200 linear feet of refrigeration doors and frames across 67 locations. To simplify execution, Hillphoenix’s AMS Group provided a turnkey service, managing the full scope from site surveys and material procurement to logistics and installation.

Each installation was completed overnight to avoid store disruptions, with all equipment delivered directly to the store each evening. This eliminated the need for on-site storage and allowed stores to remain open during retrofits.

The CTC program also includes refrigeration system assessments and modifications where needed. Since adding doors reduces the BTU load, system adjustments are often necessary to maintain efficiency. The AMS Group manages this process internally, ensuring proper operation post-installation.

According to Hillphoenix, the benefits extended beyond energy savings to include increased rack system capacity, simplified project management, and flexible implementation. Installations ranged from 40 to over 200 linear feet per store, demonstrating the program's adaptability to different formats.

The company reports that this performance across multiple accounts proves the CTC program's readiness for broad adoption in the retail sector.
