Johnson Controls Expands Holme Heat Pump Facility in Denmark

Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart and sustainable buildings, has announced a major expansion of its heat pump and chiller facility in Holme, near Aarhus, Denmark. This development aims to meet growing global demand for high-capacity commercial and industrial heat pumps, creating over 100 new jobs by early 2026.

The expansion will add 2,300 square meters of production capacity and an 1,800 square meter customer and test center, featuring a state-of-the-art simulation environment. The investment also includes updating existing buildings with advanced production equipment and technology.

This milestone underscores Johnson Controls' commitment to sustainability and local economic growth. The Holme plant produces customized Sabroe-branded heat pumps and chillers, using ultra-low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants such as ammonia, CO2, and propane.

The facility, established in 1897 by Thomas Sabroe and acquired by Johnson Controls in 2005, focuses on reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption. It supplies primarily to district heating and food and beverage sectors, sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable energy.

Johnson Controls will display its HVAC and refrigeration solutions at the Chillventa show in Nürnberg, Germany, from Oct. 8-10, in Hall 7, Stand 7-240.
