Secop Austria GmbH Opens Research Center in Gleisdorf

Compressor manufacturer Secop Group GmbH establishes new research facilitites in Gleisdorf (Austria). The research center in Gleisdorf Mühlwaldstraße was officially opened today. Being one of the central research facilities for the international Secop Group, Gleisdorf will be home to world-class research in the field of compressor technology in the future.
45 new jobs are being created in Gleisdorf, with a large proportion of the employees being taken over from the previous location in Fürstenfeld. The Secop plant in Fürstenfeld will be closed as announced. With the opening, the restructuring of Secop Austria GmbH is complete. The premises in Gleisdorf will host a product performance laboratory as well as a reliability laboratory and administrative offices.
Fabricio Possamai, CEO of Secop Austria and Vice President R&D Secop Group: ”Following a challenging phase with a change in the global production chain and the relocation of production in Austria the move from Fürstenfeld to Gleisdorf is now a new start for Secop Austria. Our aim is to conduct world-class research in Gleisdorf in the field of compressor technology and to further extend Secop's technological lead. In the future, the focus of research will be on the business areas stationary cooling and mobile cooling as we want to concentrate our research efforts more strongly on our core businesses. This applies to commercial applications on the one hand and to special applications such as mobile solutions on the other. Secop Group is already working on developing new innovative platforms for both segments. We will continue our research in Styria in order to be able to offer our customers the best technology in these business areas.”
Michael Kohlmaier, General Manager of Secop Austria adds: ”The opening of our new research center in Gleisdorf today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Secop Austria. In addition to a modern building and well-trained specialists, the location is also characterised by good transport connections and the support of the city and state. I would like to thank all our employees, who are also supporting us at the new location and the Styrian government for the active support.”

International research network
In close cooperation with Secop’s headquarter in Flensburg (Germany), the Secop research site in Gleisdorf will become part of an international research network in the field of compressor technology that supports all Secop production sites worldwide. Around 155 Secop engineers are currently working internationally to establish new industry standards for all platforms.
Secop’s research team also cooperates with a network of leading research institutes and universities such as the Fraunhofer Institute and Graz University of Technology to pool resources and knowledge. Thanks to its extensive experience gained over the last 60 years, Secop is known today for world-leading cooling technology and holds around 450 patents in this field.
In addition to the two research centers, Secop also has its own development centers at all production sites around the world in order to quickly provide all customers with customized technical support.
