Secop, a leader in hermetic compressors and cooling solutions, proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone with the production of its sixty millionth compressor at the Zlaté Moravce plant in Slovakia. This achievement underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to refrigeration innovation, tradition, and sustainability.
A Journey Through the History of Refrigeration
The Past – A Path Through Three Generations
The history of refrigeration at Zlaté Moravce dates back to 1950 in then Czechoslovakia, when the Calex company started producing hermetic compressors and refrigerators. Employing up to 5,500 people, the factory produced up to 1 million compressors and 400,000 refrigerators annually until 2000. In 2001, Danfoss acquired the factory, expanding production to include rotors and stators, and later adding TL production lines. The Aurelius Group took over in 2010, rebranding the company to Secop and further expanding production with the DL line in 2011 and the NL line.
The factory's rich history is mirrored in the community, with many families spanning three generations working at Secop, highlighting the deep-rooted refrigeration culture in the area.
The Present – The Beating Heart of Zlaté Moravce Plant Innovation
The real driving force behind Secop’s success is its employees. Their skills, dedication, and passion for innovation have propelled the company forward. This familial connection and local talent pool are crucial to the company's achievements. Modern innovations like the NLV compressor and the new K line exemplify this expertise, culminating in the production of the sixty millionth unit.
The Future – Efficiency and Sustainability
Secop's forward-looking strategy is anchored in innovation and sustainability. The company invests heavily in research and development to create efficient and environmentally friendly products. The NLV compressor, powered by low GWP natural R290 refrigerant, is a testament to this commitment. It features a highly efficient, variable-speed design used across various sectors including food retail, food service, beverage, and medical fields. The new electronic controllers enhance adaptability across multiple applications, from green refrigerants in commercial refrigerators to ultra-low temperature medical freezers.
The new KLF R290 models and the under-development KLE R134a models support the shift towards greener and more efficient refrigeration systems, replacing less efficient products and enhancing old equipment performance.
Secop's milestone of sixty million compressors is not just a celebration of the past, but a testament to the promising future of refrigeration technology driven by efficiency and sustainability.
