Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) has introduced the next generation of Mitsubishi Electric s-MEXT precision cooling systems for data centers, telecommunications facilities, server rooms, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) rooms. The updated solution pairs with P-Series Outdoor Units and supports applications requiring high sensible cooling capacity.
The new s-MEXT generation is compatible with Mitsubishi Electric PUY and PUZ outdoor units using low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R-454B. Available capacities include 2 tons, 3.5 tons, and 5 tons (approximately 7, 12.3, and 17.6 kW). The systems offer two airflow configurations: upflow delivery for standard-floor rooms and downflow delivery for raised-floor installations.
The units feature an EVOLUTION+ controller with a 7-inch (17.8 cm) touchscreen for temperature and humidity management. LAN networking supports centralized monitoring, balancing, and backup functionality, while optional communication cards enable integration with building management systems.
An inverter compressor and electronically commutated (EC) fans adjust power requirements in real time. A linear expansion valve supports cooling operation, system stabilization, and adaptation to changing loads. The updated design also aims to reduce initial installation time compared with previous generations.
“With the next generation of s-MEXT, we are advancing our precision cooling portfolio to better support customers managing environments where uptime is essential,” said James DeBerry, Manager of Commercial Marketing at METUS. “These updates are designed to make precision cooling easier to manage as project requirements evolve.”
