Nessum Alliance has reported expanded use of Nessum technology in commercial HVAC and smart grid applications through deployments by Daikin Industries and Power Plus Communications AG (PPC). According to Panasonic Holdings Corporation, cumulative worldwide shipments of LSI devices incorporating Nessum IP have exceeded six million units.
Daikin is using Nessum as part of its D4-NET architecture for next-generation air conditioning networks. The company has positioned the technology as part of the evolution and global deployment of HVAC networks as buildings increasingly rely on operational and sensing data.
In Europe, PPC is using Nessum for smart metering and grid modernization initiatives requiring reliable, long-distance communications over existing infrastructure. Nessum enables high-speed IP communications over existing wiring and is based on IEEE 1901.
Originally developed for high-speed communications over existing wiring, Nessum now supports applications including HVAC, smart grids, building automation, industrial facilities and other IoT applications. Nessum Alliance said it will continue promoting interoperability, ecosystem growth and adoption of IEEE 1901-based communications technologies for connected energy-management infrastructure.
