EVAPCO Introduces eco-Air Double Stack Spray Cooler for High-Capacity Cooling

EVAPCO has expanded its eco-Air Series with the EAW-DS Double Stack Spray Cooler, a high-capacity, spray-assisted cooling system designed to reduce installed footprint, connected power, and water consumption. The new unit targets commercial HVAC, industrial processes, data centers, and power generation applications with demanding heat rejection requirements.

The EAW-DS combines dry cooling with a spray-assist system that lowers entering air temperature when additional cooling capacity is required. During dry operation, fan speed adjusts according to process temperature requirements and ambient conditions. When the system cannot maintain the leaving fluid temperature set point, spray nozzles activate to cool the incoming air without spraying water directly onto the coil.

According to EVAPCO, the unit can reduce water consumption by up to 95% compared with evaporative products. Its once-through spray system uses copper tubing and tangential flow nozzles, eliminating the need for a cold-water basin or pump. The Double Stack configuration also reduces the total installed footprint and connected power requirements.

Standard construction includes Type 304L stainless steel coil tubing, epoxy-coated aluminum fins, and stainless steel casing and structural components. Type 316 stainless steel construction is available as an option. The coils comply with ASME B31.5 piping requirements, while the unit features CTI-certified dry performance and EVAPCO’s 100% thermal performance guarantee.

The factory-assembled cooler uses belt-driven NEMA fan motors with sealed bearings and variable frequency drive compatibility. Electrical features include individual fused disconnects in UL Type 4 enclosures, DPDT vibration switches, and a low-voltage terminal box. Maintenance provisions include a large hinged access door, a full-length internal drive access platform, and an optional external service platform.
