FREOR Improves IDA QB Counter Energy Efficiency by Up to 45%

FREOR has reengineered its IDA QB self-service counter to deliver up to 45% greater energy efficiency than previous models. The updated unit moves from energy class C to B while maintaining 360° product visibility for high-traffic retail areas.

The counter operates on an autonomous Plug & Cool cooling system using environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant. FREOR says the redesign addresses rising energy costs and stricter sustainability targets without compromising performance, visibility, or design.

The new IDA QB design includes insulated glass units that maintain product visibility while improving thermal efficiency. The glass units are supported by a metal frame rather than drilled into the counter, allowing the use of high-performance insulated glass units with low-emissivity coating.

The counter also uses XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) foam insulation underneath the bottom section. The insulated glass unit is installed in a special construction that keeps argon gas sealed and reduces the risk of leakage.

For additional efficiency, the IDA QB is equipped with FREOR-manufactured glass lids designed specifically for the counter. The company says the more precise fit and better sealing reduce cold air loss and help prevent warm air from entering the product display.

The self-service counter features a stainless steel exterior and interior. According to FREOR, the material supports durability, hygiene, and ease of maintenance in high-traffic retail environments.
